Children of Chernobyl – 2016 Visit

Chernobyl_2016

On 4th June 2016 seventeen children and two leaders arrived at Manchester Airport.

Our group of children arrived tired after their long journey. Many had travelled over-night to reach Minsk. Most came from the Stolin area, a highly radio-active area near to the Ukraine border. Most will never have ventured outside of their local area and so this was the start of a big adventure.

We were delighted to welcome Maryia back and to meet Sviatlana as our leaders, both teachers in Belarus.  We hosted 10 girls:- Alesyia, Alina, Dasha, Dasha, Dziyana, Karina, Kristina, Ksusha,  Lera  and Ryma and 7 boys Andrei, Dima, Ilya, Vadizm, and Venya and Dima and Styopa who were repeat visitors.

Ahead of them was a month of activities, from dental fillings to magic shows! Download the full report here and share their joy!

Haiti Project – Committed Until 2017

Our Wirral Circuit has a particular connection with Haiti, it is the family home of one of our Ministers, Rev Marcus Torchon. Leveque Methodist School was totally destroyed by the January 2010 earthquake. Through the generosity of members of the circuit and others from beyond the circuit we have been able to fund a completely new building. The building was officially opened in September 2012, and we committed to support the school by funding the equivalent of at least 120 pupil places for the first five years of its operation. That commitment runs through to September 2017. You can download details of the scheme here. (But please note the incorrect Circuit Office address).

If you wish to make a contribution, please forward a cheque made payable to “Wirral Methodist Circuit” and identified as “Haiti Scholarship” to:

Welcome to our new website!

Welcome to our new website!

The new Wirral Methodist Circuit website site has been launched alongside the publication of our new booklet, ‘Good News’. This booklet brings together a collection of stories of the good work being done, and the powerful ways that God is working in and through the Methodist Churches on the Wirral.

You can read some of those good news stories on this site and also find out about events, activities and worship throughout the Wirral. You can read news from a Christian perspective and keep up to date with the latest ‘tweets’ from the Methodist Church.
