A community-focused church at the heart of the Port

Welcome to Trinity Methodist Church, Ellesmere Port. The family at Trinity has a rich heritage, immersed in stories that demonstrate the reality of a living God, inhabited by a diversity of individuals who have experienced the joy of pilgrimage together. Trinity is ultimately about ordinary people and their journey as they seek to love God and love their neighbours as themselves.

Trinity Methodist Church celebrated its centenary in 2014 and throughout its history has offered a Christian presence at the heart of Ellesmere Port. Trinity has been witness to significant changes along Whitby Road and in the wider locality, but through the years has continued to function as a faith community seeking to demonstrate the love of God to its local community with faithfulness and consistency.

Worship and prayer are woven into the rhythm of Trinity’s weekly routine and The Daily Bread cafe resides at the core of the operation and provides spaces for conversation and connection. Trinity is supported by a group of local volunteers who run the cafe and produce quality home-made bread, soup and cakes.

Hospitality is a central tenet of the ethos of Trinity and seeking to be inclusive in our welcome simply reflects the ministry of Christ. In fact, whether over a cup of tea and scones in the cafe or helping to garden and engaing in housekeeping activities we are family. Connections are made and individuals can feel valued and supported.

Ten years ago the building underwent major refurbishment and now provides some impressive spaces for church and community alike. The facilities include a cafe, quality kitchen, a labyrinth space, along with a number of meeting rooms for hire. Trinity has become a multi functional building and is now seemingly set up for greater engagement with the community.

Societal changes have produced some significant shifts in the nature of family and community, in the art of communication, and the perception of religion and spirituality. These challenges along with numerous others, require innovative and creative thinking to enable us to be effective in our witness. Trinity is part of the wider Methodist Church family and Trinity bears witness to the creative and innovative way in which the wider Wirral Methodist Circuit has sought to address the challenges at the heart of society today by recognising the value of church in the community.

After extensive consultation, the areas of health, education and training were earmarked as key priorities for the wellbeing of the wider Ellesmere Port community. Working in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council, the local Health Authority and other key organisations along Whitby Road and in the town, Trinity has sought to build relationships and hold conversations that make a difference to the people of Ellesmere Port and beyond.

Trinity Methodist Church Community Cafe is open four days a week. We are a friendly bunch of people and have a wonderful team of volunteers. This allows us to provide good food and fabulous coffee at very reasonable prices.

Due to an increase in demand we would value some extra volunteers to help in our cafe, gardens and lovely building. We would particularly welcome anyone who has an interest in hospitality and catering and has two hours a week to spare. Experience would be wonderful but Trinity is a great place to try something new! We provide online level 2 food safety and allergy awareness qualifications for those who volunteer with us.
