Welcome to the Wirral Methodist Circuit

Rev. Barbara Banton

Hi, my name is Barbara Banton and I am the minister for Bromborough Methodist Church. I have lived on Wirral for many years and have a varied working background of being alongside people of all ages. Having recently returned from being stationed in West Lancashire Methodist Circuit, I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve the people of this locality, and look forward to discerning God’s working in our midst.

As a church we seek to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to work out our faith by serving the local community. We offer a warm welcome to all and hope that this website will encourage you to come and visit us.  If you want to talk to somebody about spiritual matters, or just need someone to talk to, do join us one Sunday.

Bromborough Methodist Church was founded in 1927, and is situated on Allport Lane in Bromborough, about half a mile south of Bromborough village centre. It is one of 24 churches in the Wirral Circuit, which in turn is in the Liverpool District of the Methodist Church. We are also happy to arrange for weddings, funerals or baptisms.

Not all our activities are on Sunday or on church premises. We have a prayer group, bible study groups, a meditation group and a choral group which all meet in members’ homes either weekly or monthly during the week. There is also a team of pastoral visitors who will always offer a listening ear and make sure that no-one ever feels left out.

We are a congregation of all ages and backgrounds, tending towards the top end of the age range, but with some children and their parents in our Sunday worship. Our membership is around 120, but our wider community includes the large number of people of all ages, from 3 to 93, who use our premises during the week.

We are a broad church, encompassing those of different theological viewpoints and preferring different styles of worship, but with a common aim to proclaim God’s love and make Jesus relevant to ourselves and those around us. With this in mind our Sunday worship follows a varied pattern, from the more traditional to the modern.
