The Methodist Church came into being two hundred years ago when a staid Anglican vicar, John Wesley, had a life-changing experience. In a meeting in Aldersgate, London, he said: “I felt my heart strangely warmed”. He described it as an “Awakening”. Uncountable people down the ages and around the world have had the same encounter with God, and have met the risen Jesus Christ – and it is still happening today.
If you have come to a realisation that there is more to life than materialism and consumerism, we encourage you to begin your search at one of our worship services or midweek study groups. Talk to someone and find out what ways there are for you to meet with others who are on the same journey, so you can learn from each other.
While you are doing this, you might like to explore what people have written about Christianity and the search for meaning in life. Here’s one place you could start – www.bethinking.org.
Here’s a YouTube video which you might enjoy. The drawings are cool!
