We are an inclusive family-friendly church seeking to serve our local community.  We offer a warm welcome to all who come through the doors.

Our calling as a Methodist Church is to:

  • increase awareness of God’s presence and celebrate God’s love
  • help people grow and learn as Christians, through mutual support and prayer
  • be good neighbours to those in need, and challenge injustice
  • make more followers of Jesus.

Prenton Playgroup

Prenton Methodist Church Playgroup has strong links with Prenton Methodist Church – Their children and families support several activities with the church such as the Autumn/Spring fairs, holiday club and jigsaw. Many of the families attend church services. Children from playgroup then move on to beavers, rainbows, cubs, scouts and brownies. The children who attend buggy-club can make the transition to playgroup easily as it is somewhere they are familiar with as they come in to playgroup for visits before they start playgroup. We celebrate Christmas and produce a Nativity Play every Christmas for the children to appear in and their families to attend. This is always a real success with a fantastic atmosphere. They celebrate a variety of multi-cultural celebrations e.g. Chinese New Year and Divali as well as celebrating Easter.

Annually we hold a graduation ceremony in the summer for the parents of those children who are moving on to school and we give individual certificates to each child highlighting their strengths. The children love it!

We are an inclusive practice and support parents whose children have Special Educational Needs. Our SENCO works alongside other professionals such as speech & language, paediatricians and health visitors. Meetings are often held at playgroup and the professionals are always positive in their comments about the professionalism of the staff.

We hold an Open afternoon for prospective parents to visit playgroup and talk to staff.

Parents and families are very well supported by all of the staff and parents are well aware that they can speak to any member of staff regarding any problems they may have with their child or indeed any personal problems and they know that any information is kept strictly confidential.

Staff are long serving, experienced and mostly mature ladies with life skills important to working in a playgroup. Staff have worked at playgroup for 22 years, 20 years and 18 years, the shortest serving staff member has been here for 2 years.

We have an excellent relationship with the local schools and are always complimented on our professionalism and the standard of behaviour from the children when they leave us to go to reception.

The transition for the children going to school is done smoothly and we will often take children with extra needs on several more visits to help with their transition for which families are very grateful.

Many of our parents bring several siblings to playgroup because of the excellent reputation that we have in the local community.

We have an open door policy and we share information with families and all staff are approachable.

We have several parents who are teachers and they value our maturity and experience and always recommend playgroup to other families, in fact one mum who works at another nursery brings her child to us instead of her place of work

I love how lovely all the staff are, they are welcoming to the children and my daughter loves playgroup. This is my second child to attend playgroup and it has been excellent for both. Keep doing what you are doing, don’t change a thing.

We are very pleased with…..progress and she continues to love playgroup.

We are absolutely delighted with the progress our son has made and we can only thank the incredible staff for this.

I would just like to thank you all personally for all of your hard work with both of my children.

There are no words to express how grateful we are for everything you all have done for our son.

Playgroup is very welcoming and the staff are always smiling.

All aspects of the playgroup teachers are excellent.

Very good playgroup especially for children who have not been apart from parents before. Staff are very good with the children.

The playgroup staff have worked very hard to receive a GOOD in all areas rating by OFSTED and better staff you would not find anywhere else.
